Grainger Earns Top Marks on the 2019 Corporate Equality Index

CHICAGO, April 10, 2019 — Grainger (NYSE: GWW), the leading broad line supplier of maintenance, repair and operating (MRO) products serving businesses and institutions, earned a perfect score on the 2019 Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for the fifth consecutive year and the designation of a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

The 2019 CEI evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices, including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Grainger joins more than 560 major U.S. businesses that achieved top marks this year.

“Being recognized for the fifth straight year by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation reflects Grainger’s commitment to building a company where everyone can bring their whole self to work every day,” said Grainger Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, Kathleen Carroll. “We have always focused on having a workplace where everyone feels welcomed and valued. We listen closely to our team members and adapt our policies and benefits to meet their needs.”

Grainger offers full benefits for same-sex domestic spouses and partners and has global policies that prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Grainger supports the LGBTQ community through charitable contributions, its corporate partnership with the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, its participation in Chicago’s Pride Parade, and its internal Business Resource Group, the Equality Alliance.

In the last year, Grainger has donated to Chicago House, which empowers persons living with or vulnerable to HIV/AIDS to lead healthy and dignified lives, through housing and compassionate, client-centered support services. The company also supports Howard Brown Health, an organization that exists to eliminate the disparities in healthcare experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people through research, education and the provision of services that promote health and wellness.
