84 Lumber Opens New Truss Plant in Mansfield, Ohio

84 Lumber, the nation’s largest privately held building materials supplier, is continuing to expand with its newest truss plant opening in Mansfield, Ohio. The plant is fully automated and outfitted with the latest design software, computerized saws and laser projection equipment. It is now building trusses and servicing customers throughout the Columbus and Cleveland markets.

“The need for engineered and manufactured wood products is rapidly increasing in Ohio and across the country,” said Ken Kucera, vice president of installed sales and manufacturing at 84 Lumber. “We’re excited to be fulfilling that need and following through with our growth plans in 2020, and we have big plans to continue expanding throughout the rest of the year.”

In 2015, 84 Lumber had four component plants in the U.S., and by the end of 2020, the company will have 10 total plants. The Mansfield truss plant is 84 Lumber’s third component plant in the Central division. Future plants are planned for Richmond, Central Florida and a second one in Charlotte.

To support and prepare for the company’s growth, 84 Lumber also launched a new hiring plan with the goal of hiring for more than 200 store and component plant positions by the end of the year. As part of the plan, 84 Lumber has set up a new retention bonus program for new Manager Trainees that sign on with the company now through October 1, 2020. The program includes a bonus after 30 days of employment, another at three months and a final bonus at the end of six months. These bonuses are intended to help bridge new Manager Trainees into the 84 Lumber culture and incentive systems.

“If you’re looking for a great career where you can grow and move up quickly, come join us!” Kucera said. “We have positions opening up at our new plant in Ohio as well as various other locations around the country. If you commit to working hard for us, we will commit to you and your career as well.”

84 Lumber is continuing its plans to open new stores in California, Idaho and Michigan.
